Travel Stress Immunity
I’m blogging this from an airport in New York. Having just taken a business trip-vacation with my husband and two boys, I’m waiting at the gate of a delayed flight, kid in lap, snacks at feet (because they don’t feed us on this cross-country flight!), and noticing several of the usual stressors that can make travel a headache: screeching kids (not mine, thank goodness), last-minute delays, inclement weather. I’m also sleep-deprived (that 3-hour time difference coupled with too many exciting activities will do that!) and somewhat homesick (my dog is the daughter I never had, and a difficult one to part with), so the idea of travel stress is on my mind.
Fortunately, I’m not feeling stressed at the moment–I’m actually enjoying the delay time as a surprise chance to blog (thanks, cognitive restructuring!), using the screeching kid as a happy reminder to be grateful my kids are past that particular activity (go, gratitude!), and still basking in the excitement of all I’ve done here), but I did want to share some tips on relieving travel stress, in case you find yourself on a trip that you actually want to enjoy in the near future.
Below are links to my best travel stress tips. I invite you to share your own best tips in the comments section. (Staycation tips are welcome, too!)
