Answers on Michael, Help for You
Now more reports are coming out about Michael Jackson’s death–what really killed him and why–and these answers aren’t pretty.
As a fan of the King Of Pop since childhood, I was very sad to hear of his death, and concerned for his children. The more information that trickles in about his final weeks, days and hours, the sadder the picture becomes. For example, according to this report on Michael Jackson’s death, he suffered from insomnia for weeks, and was taking several medications (administered by a round-the-clock doctor, aparently) as a way to cope. It was likely this mix of meds that killed him, and his doctor is now being looked at for homicide.
Reading the story of a desperate Jackson, unable to sleep after trying for hours and staying up all night, I sympathize with his sense of desperation. While nobody knows exactly what was going on that night, I do know that a large amount of people suffer from insomnia at one time or another (often caused by stress and anxiety), and feel helpless when dealing with the cycle of physical and emotional responses to the stress of being unable to sleep. While Jackson’s doctor seems to have given a possibly deadly mix of medications to help him sleep, I can’t help but wonder what would have happened if MJ had practiced stress management techniques to at least help in combating the anxiety and insomnia. We will never know.
If you face trouble sleeping (especially mild insomnia–unlike the more severe form that Jackson seems to have been battling), there are some natural techniques that have been shown to be helpful with finding sleep when stressed. Read up on them, and have a better night’s sleep!
(Note: This is a general commentary on stress and sleep. Obviously, I can’t diagnose or treat individuals from this blog. If you have concerns about your health, I do recommend that you talk to your doctor, too.)
